Young Belgian Strings
Under the Patronage of Her Majesty The Queen
Young Belgian Strings is a string orchestra composed of 21 young talents from the different string instrument classes of all the Royal Conservatories and Music Schools of Belgium.
A project realized with the support of the Fund Prince Philippe.
The 31st of January 2016 and the 12th of March 2017 Her Majesty Queen Mathilde attended the gala concerts of the Young Belgian Strings at Flagey in Brussels. By Her presence, the Queen wants to support young talents and stimulate young people's interest in classical music. Since January 2020, the Young Belgian Strings are placed under the Patronage of Her Majesty The Queen.
We wish to give to our laureates and students the opportunity to meet, exchange experiences, enhance their learning, perform in the most prestigious international concert halls and prepare for a future career in the world’s major orchestras.
Young Belgian Strings is open to students and laureates from all the Royal Conservatories and Music Schools of Belgium with an age limit of 30 years. A market study confirms that there is a real demand from young musicians for such projects.
The work within the orchestra complements their musical training in our national institutions and allows these musicians to acquire all the technical knowledge and practice of the trade of Orchestra musician. Young Belgian Strings organizes several working sessions per year and concerts in Belgium and abroad.
The YBS benefits from the support of an internationally renowned patron of the arts in the person of Lorenzo Gatto, Second Laureat of the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition of Belgium.
We wish to demonstrate that music is a universal language without linguistic barriers and to prove that our educational music institutions are of very high quality, abounding with young talents.
We wish to unite under the colours of Belgium the future leaders of our cultural landscape!
We need you and your support to give them the means to fulfil their ambitions!
We are convinced that helping high-level educational projects is a priority.
Every contribution helps to build the future of youth.
